Tie Dye has been slowly creeping back into the fashion world and is finally hitting a peak this year. From dresses, to skirts, to tops and even shoes, you can get just about get tie anything. Personally, I am loving all the prints. There are so many colors and tie dye patterns, for those who like to be a little extra, to the more minimalistic fashionista.
Wear pieces you feel comfortable in – if you are not comfortable with the super bright colors, pick a tie dye that only has two colors or are darker, like a blue and white or even black and white tie dye. Same thing goes with matching bottoms and layering pieces – go with what makes you feel comfortable. Personally, I like balance, so I’ll have one statement piece – in this case the tie dye piece- then solid layering pieces and/or bottoms to tone it down.
This week I am focusing on tie dye tops. There are some basic pieces you can get at stores like Francesca’s, H&M, Old Navy, and Urban Outfitters, as well as pieces for fandom fashion at Target, Hot Topic, Box Lunch, and Forever 21.
Tie Dye Graphic Tees
Forever 21 – For a top like this, you can easily pair it with denim as shown here. You could also pair with bottoms that are white, black, red, or blue. I love that the graphic is what stands out on the shirt. The tie dye is very subliminal, and is colors pulled form the graphic to compliment it.
Hot Topic – this top has a great graphic for Star Wars Fans. Even though there are multiple colors use in the art, the black tee helps tone it down for those who don’t want to be super bright. This would look great with blue, red, denim, or black bottoms. You could rock this with blue or black denim and a fun colored shoe.
Target– Now this is my kind of tie dye – fun and vibrant. Now this kind of tie feels like it would be hard to pair with anything, but it isn’t. Easiest go to is blue denim in any wash- you can’t go wrong. You can pair it with any colors in the shirt, and layer with neutrals to help make you not feel like and eater egg. This top would be super cute with some medium washed denim jeans and a white blazer.
Tie Dye Fashion Tops
Francesca’s – This top has a minimalistic tie dye print, as well as uses the Pantone color of the year, Living Coral. This is a fun spring/summer color. It can go with of course denim or would look super cute with a white blazer or white skirt/pants/shorts.
Target – This top is also very tie dye minimalistic, and a print you see year after year. I love the horizontal tie dye stripes of this print. The cut is draping at the bottom and shaped to elongate the torso. I love how they paired it here with white bottoms.
Forever21– Absolutely in love with his flowy tie dye crop top. I love the bright colors and the cut of this top. This would be cute a pink or tallow flowy skirt, or even a denim skirt.
