Last week I talked about Tie Dye tops and different ways to wear them. This week I want to focus on bottoms. The same principles apply – find colors to pull from the tie dye to help coordinate other pieces, or go with a neutral. It depends on what you feel comfortable in. If tie dye feels out of your comfort zone, go with more neutral colors to help balance it.
Tops are easier to keep tie dye to a minimum, whereas bottoms are more statement pieces and noticeable. The great thing is, you don’t have to have a bright tie dye. There are bottoms with a more minimalistic approach.
For example, these shorts from Urban Outfitters are a great way to wear the print and feel understated. This look from Urban Outfitters is very monochromatic – if you wants to tame it, you could do a cute white, black, or navy top.
These pants from Urban Outfitters are also a great way to stay minimalistic and on trend. The print looks similar to camo print pants and paired with a simple white tank and black flats.
Now, if you are like me most days, I like to make an impression with my clothing. I like the bolder prints, bright or pastel.
These shorts from Target are a little bit of a bolder tie dye print, but in a pastel that is more muted. I like that Target paired these shorts with a brighter tie dye top for contrast. This is definitely on the bolder end of the spectrum. I paired the same shorts with a white Marvel Graphic tee for simpler look.
I love these bright overalls from Hot Topic; they are bright, colorful, and so much fun. This would be so cute with a crop tee for summer, in any of the colors on the overalls.
Last thoughts- don’t be afraid to get on this trend- tie dye is something that will never go away. The color ways and silhouettes might change from year to year, but this is a print that will always be around. I highly suggest going to Target, Francesca’s, or Urban Outfitters for more muted tie dye pieces. For something more bold, Forever 21, H&M, and Hot Topic are great choices.
