Fandom Fashion – This Week 5/11/19

Hey Friends! I am starting a new weekly post, “This Week in Fashion”. The focus and purpose is to talk about new things happening in the fandom fashion or just fashion world. This week we had the Met Gala and Black Milk launched new Star Wars pieces. I apologize for posting this so late this week; I’ve been grieving the loss of a loved one, and it’s been difficult to focus to write.

Met Gala

The Met Gala was this week. The theme was Camp which taking and idea and making it above and beyond extravagant. Some looks were just extra and terrible, and others were a work of art.

Here are my favorite looks of the Met Gala red carpet:

Billy Porter wore this show stopping design from The Blondes. you can easily see the Egyptian influences. The Blondes are known for their intricate stone and bead work on their pieces.

Lupita Nyongo radiated in this Atelier Versace dress. This is probably my favorite look. I love the colors, and the mixture of the beads and feathers.

Lady Gaga had 4 different looks from designer Brandon Maxwell. Each dress told part of a story. Would we expect anything less from her?

Janelle Monae was a literal work of art in this custom design from Christian Siriano. This look is a homage to abstract art.

Black Milk New Stars Wars Pieces

Tuesday Black Milk Clothing launched new pieces to their Star Wars collection. There is a mixture of jerseys, dresses, skirts, bottoms, and kimonos.

Totally in love with this Dark Side Kimono.

These pants have an awesome print with tie fighters, the Millenium Falcon, and the Death Star.

Total Vader fan here, so of course I love this piece! This top unisex top is perfect for anyone into the athleisure trend.

I need these Star Wars comic short! How cute are they!

What other pieces did you see this week that you loved?
